'Leaping in Without a Net' Story Code '65421' by Tommy Thompson

18th November 1958: Sam leaps into Hungarian trapeze artist Victor Panzini, of ‘The Flying Panzini Family’. Once the most famous aerial act in the world, the Panzinis have since fallen on hard times following the death of Victor’s mother, Maria, a year earlier, and are now touring with a run-down carnival on its way to Bucktooth, Iowa. Maria was killed while attempting to perform a dangerous stunt known as ‘The Triple’; because Victor was involved, his father, Lazlo, holds him responsible for his wife’s death, refusing to believe that the tragedy was actually due to a cold that affected Maria’s sense of balance. After Victor’s sister, the beautiful Eva, announces her plan to perform ‘The Triple’ in her mother’s honour, Sam learns from Al that she will die in the attempt. Somehow Sam must become a skilled trapeze artist so that he can catch Eva during the act – if only he can conquer his fear of heights in time…
